Our History
A Legacy Woven Through Time
MMF has shaped the story of Swedish textile art. What began as a singular artistic vision has grown into a lasting tradition, carried forward by generations of designers and master weavers. Through time, the atelier has remained true to its origins—where craftsmanship, creativity, and material knowledge are woven into every piece.

The Early History
Born being able to express one's true selfis something not granted to everybody. Not in 1873 and not today. Märta Fjetterström was born with eyes to see and the capability to assimilate the beauty of the world. She grew up in a place where she was taught to act and express herself. Not without effort and not without sacrifice, but she was allowed to and she was able to.

1905-1918
Swedish Handicraft and Weaving School in Vittsjö
In 1905, when Marta Måås-Fjetterstrom resigns from her position at the Lund Museum of Cultural History, the founder of the Association of Swedish Handicraft, Lilli Zickerman, recommends her for the position of Director of the recently opened Malmo County Handicraft. MMF is assigned to lead and develop the activities.
